The City of Madison announced this week that applications are now being accepted for its 2018 SEED Grant for startups and programs that support access to healthy food in the community.

The Madison Food Policy Council will distribute the $50,000 in grants, with the maximum grant being $10,000.

Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26. According to the city, preference is given to applicants that can address racial equity and social justice, demonstrate financial need and include a plan for evaluation of program success and impact.

SEED began in 2014. Last year, 11 organizations, including Elver Park Farmers’ Market and Healthy Community Kitchen, received grants.
