Company Profile: MobileIgniter

After meeting on Langdon Street in Madison, Wis., Dominic DiMarco and Tim Nott had no idea they would eventually be business partners.

The two are the co-founders of MobileIgniter, which takes content from a user’s CMS, CRM or a custom platform and publishes it as an iOS or Android app. The company differentiates itself from the competition by making it easy to deploy enterprise applications across businesses at a fraction of the time and cost found elsewhere.

When discussing the development of the business, DiMarco said, “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. When the first iPhone came out, I said ‘okay, that’s the beginning’.”

DiMarco came up with the idea for MobileIgniter after observing the patterns emerging in app creation. After the initial concept was formed, DiMarco contacted Nott in hopes of working together.

Nott says at first he was skeptical if it was the right move.

“My perspective was that I hated mobile, and the idea that I was going to work for a mobile company was outlandish,” Nott said. “Mobile was a slow, laborious and expensive process. I decided I’d love to build a mobile product, but only if it works as easily as the web.”

MobileIgniter eventually was part of the first graduating class of gener8tor, a startup accelerator program. It helped DiMarco and Nott forge useful connections and truly made MobileIgniter a Madison company.

The duo says that their ability to work well together is both because of the trust they have in each other, and because they do not give up. Now they are hoping to expand.

“This is a team of survivors, we have been at zero multiple times. The most difficult part is getting up tomorrow and doing it again,” Nott said. “(Fortunately) we are good at that.”
