Lean Startup Author to Speak at gener8tor

by Brian Lee

Eric Ries, whose book The Lean Startup made its debut at No. 2 on the New York Times Best Sellers list, will be the guest speaker at the gener8tor meeting taking place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at 1 E. Main St.

Ries’ inspiration for lean startups comes from the lean manufacturing process in Japanese factories. The concept is about taking a scientific approach to creating and managing startups.

According to his online bio, Ries was named entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School in 2010 and is currently an IDEO Fellow. In 2007, BusinessWeek named the San Francisco resident one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech.
