Madison SOUP Helps Fund Local Micro-Grants

by Emilie Buckman

As a part of the Sunday Soup Network, Madison SOUP seeks to pool resources of local residents as a way to fund small- to medium-sized creative community projects.

You can see it in action when Madison SOUP hold its next event from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 at Sector67, 2100 Winnebago St.

For a $10 admission ticket, attendees will enjoy a meal of homemade soup, salad, fresh baked bread and a drink as well as a voting ballot. During the meal, presenters pitch their project ideas and why it is beneficial to the Madison community.

“I love the range of topics that we hear about at events,” Heather Wentler, Madison SOUP organizer, said. “I sometimes wonder how participants can pick which one is the best, because if I was voting, I don’t know how I would only pick one.”

Presenters represent a range of local Madison artists, entrepreneurs and community activists.

At the end of the meal, attendees vote on their favorite idea, and the project with the most votes will be awarded all of the proceeds raised from the evening.
