PhylloTech Nabs SBIR Grant

PhylloTech, a biopesticide developer and plant biotechnology company, announced today that it is the recipient of the second phase of a National Science Foundation SBIR contract worth $750,000.

According to a release, PhylloTech will use the funds to expand its employee count. Since the company was founded in 2010, it has received more than $2.4 million in federal SBIR grants.

The company also announced its new headquarters in the Middleton Business Park, which includes office, lab and productive space.

“We are excited to begin this new phase of growth and commercialization at PhylloTech,” CEO Ryan Shepherd said in a statement. “We are also extremely grateful to our funding agencies, the NSF and the United States Department of Agriculture, for supporting the development of our technologies.

In addition, PhylloTech’s leading biopesticide product, antifungal phylloplanin, is being registered with the EPA for use in agriculture.
