Ronin Studios & Consulting, which designs and builds games for adult learners, today released Company Retreat, its first game, the company announced.

“It’s a sense of accomplishment to start with an idea, making sure it meets our client’s business objectives, then delivering it to market,” CEO Scott Kohl said. “While the design changes along the way and there are a ton of things we’d do differently with more time/budget, the game has a depth and integrity but still adheres to good game design principles.”

According to a release, Company Retreat is an online leadership development game that builds management skills on motivation, coaching, training and task assignments. Players are shipwrecked on a remote jungle island and must manage employees correctly through 20 increasingly difficult levels.

Kohl said the concept came from a client that needed new ideas for a development training series.

“It was critical to make sure the game was accessible to a range of learners in a variety of professional settings,” Kohl said. “Technically the game had to be playable on mobile and traditional web. Our client also wanted as long a lifetime of product as possible.”

Companies may purchase the game directly from Ronin. Pricing starts at $250/person for a one-year license.
