Understory has closed a $5.25 million Series B funding round, the company announced today.

According to a release, the round was led by True Ventures with participation from 4490 Ventures and Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund. The money will be used to hire local employees and move into a new, larger facility in Madison to support the company’s global expansion operations.

“Our commitment to disrupt outdated methods for dynamic weather analysis is the primary focus for this next stage of growth,” Understory CEO Alex Kubicek said in a statement. “We are excited to work with our investors who are supporting our mission of creating a higher standard for hyperlocal weather monitoring.”

The company is looking to expand across agriculture, insurance, government and environmental markets. It has deployed more than 600 stations in the United States.
