Midwest BioCapital, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage biotech and life science startups, recently announced its launch.

According to a LinkedIn post, its first fund will focus on seed and early-stage companies developing new therapies, tools and technologies that move healthcare forward. The firm looks to back 50 companies by 2030.

“The fund will back the next generation of biotech and life science startups being built right here in the Midwest, giving them the early support they need to grow,” Midwest BioCapital CEO and Founder Justin Byers said in a LinkedIn post.

Byers also founded Axio BioPharma.
