Forward BIOLABS to Expand, Launch New Program

by Taylor Kennedy

Forward BIOLABS is expanding to Milwaukee to further strengthen Wisconsin’s biohealth ecosystem for young companies, the organization announced recently.

According to a release, these efforts also include expanding Forward BIOLABS’ facility in Madison, piloting Forward BIOLABS’ presence in Milwaukee and launching a new statewide program, “Innovation to Commercialization Pipeline (ICP) program.” They are all backed by the State of Wisconsin in support of the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub.

“Forward BIOLABS is an essential anchor for the next generation of biohealth start-ups, and our life sciences ecosystem more broadly, in Wisconsin,” Forward BIOLABS’ Board of Directors President and URP Managing Director Aaron Olver said in a statement. “We’re excited to amplify synergies between Forward BIOLABS and URP to make it easier for founders to grow their companies in Wisconsin.”

The larger facility in Madison will include capabilities focused on chemistry, along with additional life sciences equipment tailored for seed-stage companies.

The co-working office in Milwaukee will be co-located with BioForward Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub in the UW-Milwaukee Innovation Accelerator.

Meanwhile, the ICP program is designed to support statewide, scalable young biohealth companies in navigating the complex journey from discovery to market.
