SHINE Technologies has entered into a strategic partnership with Standard Nuclear, a reactor-agnostic producer of TRISO nuclear fuel and radioisotope power systems, SHINE announced today.

According to a release, the partnership will advance nuclear fuel recycling and U.S. fuel security. It also will establish a framework and lay the groundwork for a closed-loop, circular economic solution to domestic nuclear fuel production.

“Our partnership with Standard Nuclear is an important step toward closing the nuclear fuel cycle and making nuclear energy renewable,” SHINE CEO Greg Piefer said in a statement. “Together, we’re building the ecosystem needed to turn waste into a strategic asset and move closer to a future where clean energy is both practical and sustainable.”

SHINE will provide recycled nuclear materials from its planned used nuclear fuel recycling facilities to Standard Nuclear for use in TRISO fuel production and to provide isotopes for its radioisotope power systems.
