Two University of Wisconsin students recently launched a new website service called Boozely that aggregates local alcohol prices and specials from liquor stores in the downtown area.

Juniors Seth Braddock and Tristan Bednarek, double majoring in Biology and Life Science Communications and Political Science and Economics, respectively, were inspired recently by a friend to start up this website.

“I found out that my buddy calls liquor stores all over the downtown area to find the best liquor specials, so I decided to do a little research to see if there’s some sort of website or application out there that already does this,” Braddock said. “After some time, all I found were specials for bars, but not for liquor stores.”

Braddock and Bednarek are in the process of getting the word out about Boozely through Twitter and talking to people. Both of them are pitching their idea to business owners, friends and other connections in the Madison area. In addition, they are going to bars, liquor stores and grocery stores to talk to random people about their service to drive more traffic to the site.

Down the line, Boozely may generate revenue by selling subscriptions or ad space to liquor stores, brands or distributors. It also may run liquor store specials exclusive to Boozely, the founders said.

In the coming months, Braddock and Bednarek hope to launch a mobile application that will further drive traffic to the site and get more people to use the service. This summer, Braddock plans to test the market in his hometown of Syracuse, N.Y., while Bednarek will continue to work the Madison market.
