New entrepreneurs, meet a veteran of startups.

Startup accelerator gener8tor will have its Launch Day for its summer class from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 29 at Turner Hall in Milwaukee and feature Brian Wiegand as the keynote speaker, the organization announced this week.

Wiegand’s lengthy resume includes co-founding shopping search engine Jellyfish.com, which was sold to Microsoft in October 2007, and serving as CEO of Alice.com for four years. He currently is working on Hopster.com, which focuses on the grocery coupon industry.

“We’re excited to help bridge the Madison and Milwaukee ecosystems by hosting serial entrepreneur Brian Wiegand in his first Milwaukee speaking engagement,” Troy Vosseller, co-founder of gener8tor, said.

The summer class has five companies, including Madison-based OpenHomes. Each will have representatives who will pitch their businesses to potential investors.

According to gener8tor, ticketing for the event is by invitation or by request, the latter of which should be made to joe@gener8tor.com.
