2020 Forward Festival Preview

by Josie Brandmeier

The 11th annual Forward Festival will take place Aug. 13-20 and feature more than 45 events, most of them virtual.

New this year is the Forward Festival app. Attendees can use it to build their schedule and network with event organizers, sponsors and other entrepreneurs.

“The Forward Festival has always prided itself on being an inclusive conference for a wide variety of people, and this year is no different,” Hilary Stohs-Krause, festival board member and co-owner of Ten Forward Consulting, said in a statement. “As many events will be virtual, this gives great accessibility to people wanting to take part in Madison’s growing innovative and entrepreneurial community.”

Because of the pandemic, the festival will feature webinars on topics such as “Working from Home with Kids” and “10 Practical Tools to Restart Your Business.” Anchor events such as the Badger Summit (Aug. 13) and the Forward Technology Conference (Aug. 14 and Aug. 18) have been restructured to fit a virtual format.

Among the few in-person events is Spark and Spokes (Aug. 19), a bike ride around Lake Monona.

Registration for a Forward Pass is free, though a few events require a paid ticket or donation, such as the Social Good Summit and Play Make Learn 2020 Conference.
