In 2025, the biohealth industry in Wisconsin contributed $38.1 billion in total economic activity, according to the Wisconsin Biohealth Industry Landscape and Economic Impact Report.
In addition, the industry directly supports more than 139,000 total jobs and 59,519 direct jobs across 2,667 establishments statewide. This represents a 12.9% increase in direct employment from 2021 to 2025, compared to 6.9% nationally.
“Wisconsin’s strength comes from the way our biohealth ecosystem works together,” BioForward CEO Lisa Johnson said in a statement. “Wisconsin has the assets and connections to help biohealth companies start here, scale here and stay here—and to attract companies looking for a place where they can grow.”
The report was delivered during BioForward’s annual Wisconsin Biohealth Summit, which was held last week in Milwaukee.
