Middleton now has a coworking space.

Kristi Warriner opened Community Co/Works at 3030 Laura Ln. on Jan. 1 to meet the needs of people from outlying areas such as Mount Horeb and Sauk City.

“Coworking in the community is a great idea, but not everyone gets involved because of the limitations of working downtown (where most of the coworking spaces are located),” Warriner, citing challenges such as parking and traffic, said.

The 8,000-sq. ft. space is the former home of ETC and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for drop-in visitors and 24 hours/day for members.

Dedicated desks are $200/month, “hot desks” start at $50/month and private offices start at $375/month. Amenities include coffee, high-speed Internet and access to conference rooms. Warriner also plans to host events that are free and open to the public.

A native of Middleton, Warriner previously served as the business manager for Cresa.

“I’ve always wanted to run my own business,” Warriner said. “I had a taste of it from running the (former) coworking space in Cresa. To me, creating a community sounded fun.”
