D2P Grants $600K to Six Campus Projects

The University of Wisconsin’s Discovery to Product (D2P) has granted a total of $600,000 to six faculty-led research projects through the State Economic Engagement and Development (SEED) Program, the organization announced today.

The SEED Program funds innovative research that helps commercialize technologies developed by UW-Madison faculty and staff.

“Spinout companies associated with campus discoveries often need to perform additional research on their technology to improve its market readiness and grow the company in Wisconsin,” D2P Director Andy Richards said in a statement. “SEED funding fills that gap and can also generate additional private and public sector support for the projects.”

According to a release, the grants were given to David Beebe, Jo Handelsman, Seungpyo Hong, Robert Radwin, Adel M. Talaat and Andreas Velten who are working with Salus Discovery, Wacasa, Capio Biosciences, Gud Medical and OnLume, respectively.
