The University of Wisconsin’s Discovery to Product (D2P) is now offering a new program called Innovation to Market, which focuses on preparing teams to find product-market fit, the first step in the commercialization process, the organization announced today.

“The goals of D2P, I2M and Igniter programs are to mature projects on campus so that they become competitive for the funding needed to form a company, enhance their licensing potential or fine-tune their research objectives,” D2P Director Andy Richards said in a statement.

According to a release, participants will interview customers and other influencers as they test market need for their innovation and will learn to incorporate startup tools and techniques such as Business Model Canvas, customer discovery, desk research, in-depth customer interviews and value proposition design.

The free, five-week series begins Oct. 16 and will include three classroom sessions and two mandatory one-hour office meetings with the teaching team.

Applications can be done online and are due Tuesday, Oct. 3.
