Following is a statement from Heather Wentler, co-founder of the Doyenne Group, on the passing of fellow co-founder Amy Gannon:

As you may have seen on the news or social media posts over the past day or so, our Co-Founder Amy Gannon and her daughter Jocelyn were involved in a tragic helicopter accident while their whole family was on vacation in Hawaii.

We are working closely with Amy’s husband Mike and son Aaron to be able to support them in any way they need at this time.

Jasmine and I are still in shock and doing the best we can. But we know that Amy and Jocelyn are still with us, always! We will be spending the next week or so just as an internal Doyenne family, processing our emotions and celebrating all our Amy moments that bring smiles to our faces and hearts.

At this time, we ask that you do not try to stop into the office to pay your respects. I know this is a difficult time for all of us, but we need this time to grieve and figure out some things before we can open our doors to everyone. Starting the week of Jan. 6 we will have Office Hours where the community can come and celebrate Amy with us.

We sincerely appreciate all of your messages and kindness! It has been helpful to see how much Amy and Jocelyn are loved by the entire community and know that they’ve touched so many.

We will continue to communicate with all of you as we learn more information. We don’t know when they’ll be able to come home as of right now, we don’t know if/how the family wants us to support them best at this time, and we don’t know why this happened. Answers will come with time, and waiting is the worst.
We honestly don’t know how you can help right now besides continuing to do what you’re doing. But promise to let you know when we do!

We all have special Amy memories, and some may have memories with Jocelyn as well. Mike and Aaron have requested that you write letters to Amy and Jocelyn to tell your stories, send your prayers and well wishes, or just let them know that you’re helping continue to do the work that Amy started.
We have set up an email account where you can send your letters: AmyandJocelynGannon@gmail.com

One question all the press has been asking me: “How will Amy be remembered?”

Amy will be remembered as a larger than life woman who brought energy and light into every room she walked into. Her way of making you feel like you were the only person in the room when she talked to you was because of her belief in you and that your dreams are achievable … and that you need to think bigger.
Amy has left little sparks within each of us to be able to continue to carry her torch toward women’s equality and give voice to under-represented communities.

Amy was a wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally and was never happier than when talking about them or snuggling with them in her chair while watching TV and playing games on her phone. Some of her favorite memories to share were made while driving them and their friends around and the “uber mom” conversations they would have.

Amy loves you all and that will never end.
