Software development company Holos announced recently that it is the recipient of a $75,000 Phase I SBIR Grant through the AFWERX, the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force (DAF).

According to a blog post, the money will be used to conduct a feasibility study on using VR to rapidly upskill Air Force personnel in austere environments.

“We couldn’t be more excited to receive this funding, and we are beyond excited to deliver this mission-critical training platform to Airmen across Air Force Research Lab and the 711th Human Performance Wing,” Holos CEO Daniel Borkhus said in a statement.

The company also announced that it was awarded a $1.8 million government contract focused on virtual reality software development to investigate its potential to fill capability gaps in DAF.
