OnLume has been awarded a $2 million grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute to advance the development of its proprietary device for Fluorescence-Guided Surgery (FGS), the company announced today.

“We are excited to further advance the development and launch of state-of-the-art imaging technology into the clinic to allow surgeons to see what is not visible to the naked eye,” OnLume Director of Research Christie Lin said in a statement. “We anticipate that our technology will increase surgeon confidence, leading to improved patient outcomes.”

According to a release, FGS imaging technology illuminates critical anatomy in real-time during surgery. OnLume plans to refine its device for visualization of critical anatomy.
