SHINE announced recently that it has been selected for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission, an initiative to double America’s scientific output through AI.

In one project, SHINE will partner with Argonne National Laboratory as its technical partner to develop an AI-enabled workflow that helps engineers design better fuel recycling processes. In the other, SHINE will contribute data from its recycling work to help the Idaho National Laboratory apply AI across nuclear energy.

“Energy and AI are tied together,” SHINE CEO Greg Piefer said in a statement. “Advanced technology needs abundant, affordable power, and AI is helping us improve the systems that can provide it, starting with the chemistry behind nuclear fuel recycling.”

Financial terms of the projects were not disclosed.
