A kickoff event for the newly created Wisconsin Innovation Awards will take place from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Coopers Tavern, event organizers announced recently.

According to its website, the WIA highlights and honors the development of groundbreaking and innovative ideas. Its inaugural ceremony will take place during the annual Forward Technology Festival in August.

Cooper’s Tavern Chef Tim Larsen will prepare a farm-to-table taste of Wisconsin’s best artisan food, beer and liquor at the kickoff event. Registration is free.
